Some pain goes deeper than words.

Maybe you’ve tried to explain it—in therapy, to family, to your partner— but nothing quite captures what you’re feeling. You’re overwhelmed out of nowhere, or you shut down completely. More often than not, you’re stuck in your head and on edge, even when it doesn’t make sense, or things seem to be “just fine” from the outside.

And it’s not always about one big traumatic event. Sometimes it’s the pressure on you to always keep it together—as a mom, a student, a partner, or a friend. It’s the burnout from trying to meet everyone’s expectations while ignoring your own needs. Or sometimes, it’s the way you overthink everything, replay conversations, and lie awake wondering if you got it wrong (again).

You want to move forward—to get “unstuck”—but it feels like something inside you is still holding on.

What is EMDR and why does it help?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based method that helps your brain and body process experiences, emotions, and beliefs that are not yet fully resolved. This can include traumatic experiences, blindsiding moments, or a pattern you don’t realize you’re reacting to. It can also be helpful for anxiety, overwhelm, and the stress that comes from just being a human. EMDR allows your nervous system to finally settle, so everything else gets a little lighter.

HOW IT WORKS

You don’t need to have it all figured out—that’s what I’m here for.

All you need is a little openness and a willingness to try something new. If EMDR is the right fit, I’ll walk you through the process step by step. Here’s what it can look like:

01

Getting to know you.

Before we dive into anything deep, we spend time talking through your history, what’s been hard, and what you’re hoping will feel different. This helps us build trust and figure out where to focus.

02

Building a foundation.

EMDR doesn’t begin until you feel ready. First, we work on grounding skills, things that help you feel safe, calm, and able to handle what comes up emotionally.

03

Identifying what’s stuck.

Together, we figure out the memories, thoughts, or patterns that still carry emotional weight. These can be big events or smaller experiences that left a lasting impact.

04

Beginning to reprocess.

Using bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping), we help your brain intentionally reprocess the target experiences or beliefs.

05

Noticing the shifts.

As those memories and feelings begin to feel less charged, we strengthen the positive shifts and check in with how it all feels in your body. That helps the healing “stick.”

06

Ending on solid ground.

Every session ends in a way that helps you leave feeling steady and supported, with no emotional cliffhangers.

What EMDR makes possible:

  • You stop over-explaining or apologizing for how you feel.

  • Feeling free and in control of your own life.

  • You can start trusting yourself again.

  • More space in your day—mentally, emotionally, and even physically.

  • You feel more present with the people you care about.

You don’t have to keep carrying it all.

If talk therapy hasn’t helped you feel lasting change, EMDR might be the next right step.

Questions?

FAQs

  • Not at all. EMDR can also help with anxiety, self-esteem issues, relationship patterns, and complicated emotions. It’s a way to get to the root of what’s going on, even when you’re not sure exactly what that is.

  • Nope. That’s one of the best things about EMDR—you don’t have to share every detail out loud. We focus on how the experience shows up for you now (thoughts, emotions, body responses), and your brain does the reprocessing work without needing to retell everything.

  • Yes. You don’t need any previous therapy experience to benefit from EMDR. We’ll start with the basics and make sure you feel comfortable and informed every step of the way.

  • Sometimes things feel more stirred up in the beginning, and that’s normal. But our work includes tools to help you stay regulated, supported, and not overwhelmed (even when difficult or complicated emotions come up). You're never doing this alone, and you’re always in control of the pace.
